How to use ICT for teaching writing

ICT integration in education has become a global necessity in the current society. One of the most important communication skills is writing, which benefits greatly from the use of technology. Many programs, tools, and websites, including Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Online Dictionary, MindMup, Padlet, QuillBot, Grammarly, and others, have been developed to improve writing abilities. These have been shown to be just as successful as conventional pen and paper.

Teachers can use ICT to teach writing by giving students a variety of writing-related assignments to complete utilizing writing-related apps or tools (Déniz, 2022). According to Wulandari (2016), teachers would then keep an eye on the students' development, including whether or not they are adhering to the instructions for writing using programs like Essay Punch. Teachers can also use a combination of multimedia resources to assign the tasks (Wulandari, 2016). Students will be required to create a film using any video-making equipment and compose a lengthy text, such as poetry, as part of this procedure. In addition to writing, this fosters creativity.

Additionally, because Google Drive and Docs allow students to complete any written work in a group or duo, they encourage collaborative learning. When it comes to providing feedback, these tools are very practical. Furthermore, both teachers and students can collaborate on writing projects with Writing For Teens (Wulandari, 2016).

Moreover, according to Jana (2023), teachers could introduce kids to internet forums, blogs, discussion boards, and social networking sites so they can practice writing. It engages a broader audience, which increases their writing confidence and motivation. 

In addition, Déniz (2022) emphasizes how students might employ sophisticated lexical or syntactic expressions and other language patterns in their writing by utilizing various technologies. Using Google Docs and Microsoft Word also helps them become more cognizant of syntax, grammar, and morphology (Déniz, 2022). As a result, using ICT helps students become better writers and gets them ready for the new communication system.
